The luxury-based Lincoln brand recently released a teaser video across its social platforms, giving viewers a brief look of a soon-to-be revealed electric vehicle concept. This new concept will be the first BEV to come from Lincoln, and it will represent the future of Lincoln EV possibilities for drivers.

Despite often giving updates and sharing news surrounding parent company Ford Motor, Lincoln Motor Company hasn’t historically shared a lot of EV news. Well, Lincoln is now ready to say more about its electrified future. The luxury automaker teased its first EV concept ahead of an official unveiling on April 20th. The company didn’t offer much beyond a brief peek at the vehicle’s outlines, but did say in a statement that the concept would serve as an “inspiration” for EVs arriving soon.

The company originally said its Zephyr Reflection concept car would work as a strong reference point for the future of Lincoln EVs. While the new teaser you see here isn’t an exact match, the stylish roof line suggests Lincoln borrowed some design elements.

It’s speculated that Lincoln is preparing at least five electric SUVs through 2026, with the first arriving in 2022—which was teased in June 2021. Based on a report from Reuters citing three people familiar with the Lincoln plans, the electric SUVs will replace or supplement the Corsair, Nautilus, Aviator and Navigator.

Lincoln will likely electrify its full lineup by 2030, with half of its lineup producing zero emissions by 2025. This includes an electric version of the Aviator SUV. The concept’s incoming reveal isn’t a surprise, then — Lincoln has just eight years to substantially expand its EV selection.
