For customers and enthusiasts watching the industry-wide transition to eclectic and hybrid vehicles, Lincoln may appear to be behind competing automakers, but the Ford brand has impressive plans to catch up. Numerous industry sources have stated that the Lincoln deluxe label is set to reveal its first electric vehicle later in 2022, which some experts anticipate will be an electric Aviator to entice customers ready for all-electric luxury.

These automobiles will likely arrive on a new dedicated EV platform designed for mid-size unibody vehicles that are set to arrive as 2025 models. The Ford Motor Company had initially planned to build them at its plant in Cuautitlan, Mexico, though a lack of capacity due to high demand for the Ford Mustang Mach-E means they will now be developed elsewhere. The most likely site is Ford’s plant in Oakville, Ontario, currently home to the Ford Edge and Lincoln Nautilus.

Aside from the electric Aviator, Lincoln has confirmed plans for three more EVs to be launched this decade, according to Reuters, which has cited multiple individuals familiar with the plans. The other EVs are reported to include electric versions of the Corsair, Nautilus and Navigator. The identity of the last of five potential EVs wasn’t included, but it could be a crossover vehicle smaller than the Corsair. Ford also plans to use the MEB platform for a compact crossover vehicle in the European market.

The electric Corsair and Nautilus could enter production in 2025 or 2026 in Oakville, Ontario, according to journalistic sources. The potential new vehicles are expected to use an updated version of the Mustang Mach-E’s dedicated EV platform.

The electric Navigator is set to begin production in 2026. It’s EV platform will be based on those already being developed for body-on-frame vehicles, including a reworked Ford F-150.

Ford has many more EV introductions planned for the coming decade, including potentially more EVs for Lincoln. The automaker is spending $30 billion through 2025 on electrification alone, and expects 40% of global sales to be made up by EVs by 2030.
