The official Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently chose the 2021 Lincoln Nautilus as this year’s Top Safety Pick award winner. Beating out competition, Lincoln’s newly updated headlights actively reduce glare and were the determining feature that sealed the deal for the Nautilus’s placement atop other contenders. The 2021 Nautilus also earned the best “good” score in all IIHS crashworthiness tests and achieved “superior” and “advanced” marks in the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian tests.

For any vehicle to qualify for the award, it has to earn good ratings in each of the following areas: driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests, and at least good or acceptable ratings in the passenger-side small overlap front evaluation.

Vehicles also need at least an advanced or superior rating for evaluations that test vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention, and a good or acceptable headlight score. The 2021 Lincoln Nautilus, which debuted on March 22, earned high standards in all six IIHS crashworthiness categories.

Lincoln’s North America director, Michael Sprague, stated that the Nautilus is a crucial vehicle for the company. He described how it helped solidify new clients who really benefit from the versatility of a larger midsize SUV when equipped with the deluxe features that define Lincoln as a brand. “Now, along with beautiful craftsmanship and intuitive technology, these exceptional safety ratings for Lincoln Nautilus position it for even greater success for our brand,” he said.

The 2021 Lincoln Nautilus delivers blind-spot monitor cameras, updated active lane control, and automatic emergency brake with pedestrian detection. Customers can also buy a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise controller, steering assist for evasive and emergency maneuvers, and an advanced automatic parking feature. The new Nautilus also provides over 100 cubic feet of passenger volume with just under 40 inches of front headroom. It offers 58.9 inches of front shoulder room and 39.6 inches of rear legroom so you can easily spread out and take in your Lincoln.
